Why Bone Health Shouldn’t Wait
Bone health doesn’t usually make the priority list for younger adults—at least not until a fracture forces the issue. But building and maintaining strength and stability is something that should begin long before any signs of trouble appear. Osteoporosis and other forms of bone deterioration, often seen as inevitable parts of aging, are actually influenced by choices made much earlier in life.
Preventing bone loss isn’t just about taking calcium or hitting the gym once in a while. It requires a whole-person approach that includes targeted nutrition, thoughtful supplementation, regular movement, inflammation control, and hormonal balance. With the right knowledge and early action, anyone can take steps to protect their bones and stay stronger, longer.
Supplement Strategies That Work
Although taking all your supplements at the same time every morning may be convenient, it might not be the most effective approach. Some nutrients are better together (vitamin D and calcium), but others compete for the same pathways (calcium, magnesium, and zinc). Also, more isn’t always better with minerals, vitamins, and herbs. The right dose depends on the specific supplement, your health goals, and how it interacts with other medications or nutrients in your routine.

Beyond Calcium: What It Takes to Build Strong Bones
Often called the “silent disease,” osteoporosis can progress gradually without symptoms. Many people don’t recognize that bone deterioration is an issue until a break occurs. But early screening is vital for prevention, especially for high-risk populations.
Building strong bones (and preserving the ones you have) takes a strategic mix of nutrition, strength training, and targeted supplementation. But absorption can be a challenge, and certain diets may even increase the risk of fractures rather than prevent them.

The Long Road to Health Equity
Dr. Godby is on an extraordinary journey, trekking across the United States to raise awareness about health disparities. His campaign, Walk USA for Health Equity, shines a light on discrimination in healthcare, limited access to nutrition, and the harsh truth that ZIP codes may influence health outcomes more than genetics.
The fourth leg of Dr. Godby’s walk begins on August 25, 2025, covering 756 miles from Fargo, North Dakota, to Bozeman, Montana. With nearly 2,000 miles behind him, Dr. Godby is demonstrating that naturopathic doctors are not only clinicians but advocates, working to ensure that every person has a fair shot at optimal health.
In good health,
